Trauma Therapy for adults and teens in Colorado Springs

Are recent or past experiences bothering you and not going away? Are these experiences keeping you up at night? Do you feel on edge? Do you feel distant from loved ones? Are your ways of dealing with the memories no longer working?

You have been successful in your life. You are doing all the right things to feel better. Problems are typically easy for you to solve, but your current way of avoiding or dealing with past trauma is no longer working. You can’t sleep. Relationships are not as good as they could be. You are easily irritated by little things.  You have difficulty trusting and feeling close to others.  You want to feel better.

You just want to enjoy your life and stop feeling anxiety, anger, guilt, sadness and frustration.

-Get to the root of the problem and make sense of it.

-Improve your mood and sleep.

-Enjoy your relationships and like yourself again.

Trauma is difficult to work through. There are specific therapy approaches that can alleviate your symptoms and help you work through the avoidance that is hindering progress. I am trained in these methods and will help you through it all at your own pace….with a few nudges along the way.

You don’t have to be haunted by past experiences. Contentment is possible.

FAQs

Q:  How long will I need to be in therapy?

A:  Each person is different, so length of therapy can differ. However, therapy is not forever and will have an end. Expect about 6 months, depending on what you are experiencing.

Q:  How do I know if therapy will work for me?

A: Therapy has been proven to alleviate depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc. Therapy is likely to work for you, especially if you are open-minded and willing to work through your experiences. Therapy is not guaranteed to help, although if you can be honest with yourself and your therapist, you are likely to benefit.

Q: Will I have homework after sessions?

A:  Some methods of therapy require specific homework, while other methods vary. I do expect you to do some work outside of sessions as the one hour per week that you are in therapy is not likely enough to make lasting changes. You will most often be asked to practice concepts outside of our sessions.
